Sunday Roasts and Non-Dreaded, Non-Manic Mondays

I used to sort of dread mondays. It was work, school or early morning seminary. Back to the work week grind. Well, now that I am a stay at home mommy of an 11 1/2 month old, I don't dread mondays. Maybe I will never dread mondays again or maybe one day when I have lots of school aged children or I get to work again (I miss it) the weekend ending will be bittersweet. But for now, I only dread mondays because it means sam isn't around all time.

It is 9 am. There are things I should be doing. There are dishes to be done (but the dishwasher is already going), laundry to be washed (but I already started one load), floors to be vacuumed (baby is already down for her 1st nap of the day), one toilet to be cleaned (but who really wants to do that on a monday morning), books to be read (but my brain is too tired)... I have made every excuse in the book and now I can just sit here in my bed with my lavender vanilla candle going (I shut my door so I don't have to share the smell with any other room in the house) and I am sucking on a Halls breezer (next best thing to candy, I guess... I found them in the cupboard next to my candle and decided they'd be a good treat).

Yesterday Sam got londyn ready for church and requested that I do her hair in pigtails. How funny is he? So, I did them and they were so cute. All day we kept looking at her and making comments about how old and grownup she was looking with her super cute and long pigtails.
 Our baby never makes messes.

Yesterday was interesting. I put a roast in the crock pot first thing in the morning. I also cut my finger pretty deep with the potato peeler. The potatoes here are the light colored, buttery, soft kind. Dangerous when wet and you're in a hurry. We got home from church, turned it to high, then realized hours later that it was off. The crock pot we borrowed from our friends (reminder: we don't have ANY of our household goods still.. ugh.. don't get me started) doesn't work half the time. So, I ended up putting it in the oven. Well, about two hours later I came to check on it and the oven light had turned off. I started checking everything. The whole house had lost power... we didn't even have water. Turned out about five towns around us lost power due to a storm we had yesterday. We ended up eating our roast at about 7 pm. The meat was tender and yummy, but every time I make roasts here the veggies taste funny to me. I think it's the German potatoes. They don't taste right in the roast. Needless to say, I will not be making a roast for a while and I might have to have my Idaho Russets sent in the mail.
